The 31st is on it's way
And that's when I fly back to Texas.
I feel like I've missed so many people since I got here, that I haven't done a good enough job of connecting, but I've been out of touch so long it's all I can do to get in touch with a few people, and hope they spread the word.

I am "Home" for Christmas
Alright alright, before the annoyed rants and raves about me never posting/checking this thing arrive, I'll post my disclaimer.
I've always been sketchy about that. :) there.
News: I'm in California til the 31st of December, so for X-mas and all that jazz. I'm staying with Cassidy's family in Yorba Linda, so all you cool friends of mine that I haven't seen yet need to get hold of me, and quick-like!
You should still have my #, and if not, just reply here. Or look back a few journal entries, where I'll be willing to bet I posted it already. ^_^

A note (plea?) to all Late-Nighters in Austin!
Alright, so a few of you know me, but most of the Texas groups I'm in don't.
My name's Chris, and I do tech support for a living. I drive a pickup, a motorcycle, and myself crazy regularly. (Except the bike, as it's dead X.x)
I've recently encountered a little hiccup in my normal everyday life. My new work schedule....
I work M-F still, since I usually swordfight on weekends, but instead of the delicious (Although agonizing) 5am-2Pm shift, I now work 2Pm- 11Pm....
Which reads:
Depending on how late I decide to sleep in....
I wake up, shower, feed the animals, go to work, get home, go to sleep.
Blah....?
Yes. Quite blah.
So. Here's where you may or may not come in.
I would like to change my schedule. No, not my work schedule, since that is destroyed beyond repair, and I don't yet have the tenure to gank the spiffy shift from some newbie, like what happened to me.
Instead, I'd like to change my daily routine schedule.
I know this sounds silly, like a "Come be my friend!" sorta thing... but here's what I'm attempting. I want to get out and meet some more Austin people, preferably those that won't balk at staying out from 11-2 ish. (3 if you're especially cool?)
I know it's an "Out there" random request type thing, but I'm bored as overdone toast, and need to look forward to something other than videogames or sleep at the end of the day.

Again, after a lull of not posting a damned thing....
Here we go.
It's June. Cassidy and I, through the help of her parents, not tentatively have a house.
It's still in escrow, and her parents are coming to check it out this weekend, but there you have it. Awesome, awesome house.
We now are the proud parents of 2 Rott puppies.
They're horrible adorable. I think i'll upload some pix in a bit.
Tiernan is the boy, and Rowan is the girl.
They're sickeningly cute in a way that only puppies can ever be... *Vomit*
So anyhow, update on the bike. It's in the shop... still! Parts have taken a while to come in, but it's ok. My bike is completely worth the wait. Should be ready this week at the latest, since they should NOT need any more parts.
Faire is over now.
The weekends of the past few months have been stolen away by Renaissance Festivals, namely Scarborough, which was terrific! I worked at a shop called Firegems every weekend with my new "Family", and had a blast. I made a lot of new friends, and made terrific friends out of a few people I barely knew, namely Siren! (She's the hotness too)
Cassidy and I were there every day of every weekend, through sickness and health, snow (Yes, the first weekend it SNOWED in Dallas/Waxahachie, at the hottest faire in Texas), rain, hurricane force winds, and smoldering humid heat.
It was great. Just plain great.

15 years of waiting to know....
Those of you who have known me for a week or longer generally know a little tidbit of my life that I refer to as my "past".
This is mainly centering around when my Mom Disappeared form my life, and I got put into the system.
A detective called me, and my half sister, and I got hold of the half sister who gave me the news.
They found my Mom.
I have cried myself to sleep as a kid thinking she was dead.
I have gone crazy trying to find her, and given up countless times.
I have had countless people try to help me find her.
I have missed her, loved her, hated her, cursed my existence, wondering what the hell happened 15 years ago. Sorry, damn near 16 now.
I talked to her on the phone today....

No really, all I have to say is "....."

Duplexes, Shiner, Microsoft, and Swordplay
Well here it is. The long awaited (Or equally long forgotten about) update of the life of O'Riley.
Job Related: Well I now do some work for Microsoft, doing tech support for the big "M" itself, Microsoft. For the program Livemeeting specifically. I make more than I did at most of my jobs, including security, but that's still not saying a whole lot, unfortunately. I work 9:45 - 6:15 weekdays, and my weekends are mine again to do with as I please. What a change! Since that oppurtunity reared it's attractive head, i've been going to TRF (Texas Rennaisance Festival) most of the entire run of it, and now that it's over, my weekends are again free.
THat seems to be it fore the work topic, as there's nothing positive to write about it due to recent developments such as our account's high attrition rate credited mostly to a certain person on the team whom I don't need to mention, other than as a reference to the person I am working to depose.
Fun: Ren Faire is a blast. I will eventually post some pix or links to pix once they get added to the flickr account we're (Myself and Cassidy) working on.
SOme of thsoe pix are from the holiday party I went to north of Dallas this last weekend, and had a BLAST at! Man... okay next topic!
Housing: Cassidy and I (With the help of her parents) will be renting a duplex for the next year, to live close to work and free of the roomates whom we are lodged with at the moment, much to the betterment of the clean surroundings we prefer to live in.
Other: My hair is freakin long (See pix to be posted soon) now, and I intend to keep it that was, quite permanently if given half the chance. ^_^ My foot which needed some work done to it was taken care of by my other family in California during my last visit, so now I am able to run, jump, swim, rock climb, and do other physically demanding activities again which I have not been able to do to the extent that I would like in... ohhh... about 2 1/2 years before that. SO that is also good.
Basically I am alive and doing as well as can be hoped for I suppose. I am happy, and that's a major improvement over how I have been in the past, so I have nothing particular to complain about. I will update more in depth once my muse decides to take another vicious swing at me, but for now I believe Final Fantasy 12 and packing up my shit take precedence.
I miss you guys, those that I have not seen in some time, I hope you are all doing well as you skim over this silliness. Happy Holidays all, try to remember the things you take for granted this season, and smile as you think of just how lucky you are. I certainly have.

Appreciated
Lately, as in the past few weeks, i have had several people inform me of how much they appreciate me. Or various other things to that generic similar effect.
It actually felt really good. Especially considering...
(Emo time, sorry guys)
My foster parents, whom i have lived with since i was 8 or 9, until age 17 when i bailed out (Couldn't deal with the shit anymore, when I got in car wreck and foster mom said she would rather i'd have died... jackass) seem to have forgotten me.
I have made the effort to call and see how people are, to write emails and IM people when they're on, and it all just kind stops right there.
I'll get maybe a halfassed response and then, that's about it.
Granted, i did leave, but i came back ( not to live there again of course) but to visit, saw them when they came back into the state, (When i was in cali) and stuff like that, but now it's a little bit depressing that i'm not a single note in their life anymore.
Yeah, normally i would say "Screw em, i got myself and my friends, i don't need them." and be done with it. Yet somehow as of late i just... care? Meh, who knows. It may be the fact that Cassidy, just moved down from California as well, still talks with her parents and they seem to care what happens to her and everything, despite the fact that normal mother daughter arguments and things still happen.
It seems natural, and i almost wonder why i don't have that.

Back on the happier note, with the back of my mind being bothered thinking about my family, i went back to Cali recently for a few days to help out my other family (Missy and Barb and all them) with some old family things, and it got delayed again, which means i'm coming back on the 5th - 12th. Call me then if you're in Cali and would like to say hi.
They make me feel appreciated, and needed, and are more family than my foster people are by far. Oh, and important update for those of you who know why i was IN foster care in the first place....
So i talked to a few friends, and went to lunch at Chili's with a few said friends. Well someone's Mom came along, and she happens to be able to look things up about people and their whereabouts. Long story short, i got a call shortly after i got back to Texas that they had found something (Wouldnt tell me what) but something about my mom. Mind you this is 14 years of NOT knowing if she's dead or alive... or anything else for that matter. I have 7 years of fuzzy, repressed, and flashbacked memories of her to sort through, but no closure on my past and childhood.
I was in Wal-Mart when i got the call with my buddy Brent, and i proceeded to promptly get the urge to be sick, right then and there. Yes, the indominable Chris O'Riley, Mr. I won't let it actually seriously affect me, almost threw up in the Wal-Mart by Brent's house, b/c somebody knows SOMETHING about my Mom. (Should i even capitalize that after all this time?)
Wow i've written alot. I think i'm done.

Who'd have thought it?
SO i check the old E-Mail today...(Insert clip of Strongbad - "E-mail the E-mail, Uh uh THe E-Mail!") and what do you know, people still DO the LJ thing. I had all but forgetten about my poor neglected LJ, so thanks guys, for giving me a reason to pick it up again.
I think an air conditioner exploded outside my friends apt a few minutes ago. The power flickered, i heard what sounded like a car breaking down, except it was right up against the wall. I think i'll check it out just as soon as i bother to get up, cuz i'm thirsty and could use a glass of water, but am also lazy. So either laziness or dehydration will win the day, probably dehydration... i hate being thirsty.

Wow, how long has it been?
Alright, it's been awhile i know, and half of the people who used to read this are probably wondering who the hell i am now. Heh, well that's how it goes.
Still living in Austin, although i'm going back to cali on the 5th of August til the 12th, so if any of my friends in cali wanna hang out again, that's the time to call me or email me or something of that sort.
I've been managing to keep myself fairly busy these days, especially since Cassidy moved out here to Brent, Cass, and I have spent nearly every day together since she got here. It's been a pretty fun month since she's gotten here. It's good to have one of my best friends back.
Started reading a series of books called the wheel of time, and am enjoying it thoroughly.
Trying to save up some money to get a new motorcycle since my last one crapped out on me.
Trying to get another new job, see how much i can make etc etc... and yeah, that's life.
Should be getting a new phone ince my deposit refund comes through on it.
Sweet. Maybe then i'll download some cameraphone picstures to this.

Wow, i haven't updated in.... how long?
Okay okay, so if anybody still bothers to read this, or look for it, or if it crosses anyone's mind once in a blue moon, well i think it may have been about 3 or 4 blue moons since i've written here.
Quick update as usual, as i'm busy and still don't have a computer i can get to with any sort of regularity.
Still working security. It's going ok.
I now have a car, a Mazda 626.
It's cool.
I have a test to take for the U.S. Census today for a supervisor position. It has a pay rate of 17-19 dollars an hour.
Sweet.
Uhm... the kittens are doing fine, my health is still doing well, WOW. I'm pretty happy with things at the moment, as things are just kinda moving right along, and yeah... that's about all i have to write. Oh and if anybody had a busted laptop or one missing a hard drive or is otherwise undersirable, kick it my way. I got a buddy who can fix em and then i'll have one.

Yep, im a bastard!
Well, here i am getting ready to go to work on the coldest night it's been so far since i've gotten this job doing security. Predictions of ice on roads, freezing drizzle/rain, and nice cold wind blowing are what i have to look forward to in my 7 hour standing outside shift. . . Not happy time for me. One the plus side, my motorcycle should be finished now, but i have to find some way to get to Houston from Austin, so i can ride the bastard back 2 1/2 hours in this freakishly cold weather.
At least i'll have it back.
Anyhow, i'm alive and well, things are crazy lately, but that's normal for me i guess. Here's hoping i can get to Wal-Mart and buy some cold wather gear from work tonight and for when i get my motorcycle back.
*Sigh* i am SO not looking forward to tonight.

Overall, I've been naughty (-222 points). For Christmas I deserve a lump of coal!

SO yeah... i'm listening to 101X, the Austin equivalent to O.C.'s KROQ, and i played the 9 @ 9, where you listen from 9-9:30 or so, and write down the songs you hear, they ever tell you waht they are as they play em, and then you call in when they play the # 1 song, be caller # X (Im thinking they're using the roman numeral 10 n stuff... but anyhow....)
Yeah so i call in... and get

So i list off the songs, and then she goes "Hey, right on, you get to go see Coheed and Cambria Live at our studio for a Private acoustic session, with free Rudy's BBQ and hanging out with the band!
SO i almost drop dead when she says "Now turn your radio on and go ahead and listen, you're going to hear a strange man on the radion, it's you.
So looking back i wish i had known they would record it right there, so i wouldn't have sounded like such an ass.... but hell i won a free show with Coheed and Cambria! Hell yeah!
Anyone who wants to leave a post saying "Coheed & Cambria sucks!" Or "101X sucks!!" Knows where they can shove their opinion. They can tell me if they liked it later.
SO yeah, that and my motorcycle may be fixed soon, my job is going OK, and yeah, things are alright in general.

Well another long overdue update....
AAAAnnnd, not much has changed.
Motorcycle's still broke.... wasn't going to get it to Houston during the threat of Houston being destroyed n all... (Had my G/F's sister and b/f over here in case Houston DID get leveled) and yeah... life's just kinda trudging along witht he occasionaly interesting happening. I am qualifying for my concealed handgun liscense tomorrow, and my comissioned officer's card should be in from the mail soon... then it's finding the big money jobs n such. In December the PPO (Personal Protection Officer a.k.a. bodyguard) certification class is taking place, so i plan on being fully certified by the new year.
Hopefully that = better paying job with company vehicle etc etc etc.
Hope everything goes well with that.
Anyhow, my Austin friends (And friends-to-be) need to come visit my place soon.
I don't have nearly enough visitors.
Anyhow, hope everyone's well after this hurricane threat season in Austin, and whatnot, drop me a line!

FINALLY an update

Well here it is, i am still alive and kicking for thsoe of you that know me.
My cellphone broke, but i have a new one, and need everyone to call me so i can have their #'s again!
More importantly i have an apt still, but now my motorcycle is broken! Dead. Kaput!
Which means getting all over town to work my sites is difficult/impossible sometimes.
If anyone is going to Houston from Austin or nearby anytime in the near future and could fit a motorcycle in the back of a vehicle or take it there with me by any other means, please respond to this, or E-mail me at chris_m_oriley@yahoo.com

Jinxing myself?
Wow, today has been some interesting luckiness.
Turned in my second application fee, had a meeting with my Casey family programs counselor. (Program helping me get healthcare and the apt. and stuff) Then i had work, but before all of that, i had to go to work for a meeting of sorts.
Payday Monday is next Monday, you gotta be in full uniform etc. but this one is the "Pick up your schedule between 11-4" day. SO i call in the morning, to see if i work tonight, cuz the drive into Austin is over a half hour from San Marcos, where i'm staying til we move into my new place so i wanna know if i need to wear my uniform in or not, and i'm told i need to be talked to.

Uh oh much?
Well thankfully it turned out that i was needed to talk to because I got put into a supervisor position at one of my sites. The one at the movies, where we guard for movie pre-screenings. Check for cameras etc. So i get into the office and the guy who i worked under at that site last time, tells me that he put me in that position and was now in charge of it.
Secondly, the site that i started the job working at, the new apts by UT being built, i got put into the site supervisor position there too, because the guy in charge there we're working for wanted me there.
Things are going too well, and we've already had a few friends tell us they've got some furniture they don't need anymore, so we'll actually have some for when we move in! Yay!
If you have any furniture you could part with, lemme know. ^_^
So yeah luck is finally back with me. Or something under the guise of being luck. Either way is quite fine with me. Oh yeah i almost forgot the best part.
It was like black on one side of the sky when i was about an hour from starting work, already in Austin, and when i got to work, about 5 minutes afterward it started raining, so i wasn't caught out in it. It rained almost my ENTIRE shift, but i was in a covered building n stuff, so i didn't get wet unless i wanted to (It's not that bad when you're not on the bike)and it cooled me off a bit, and stopped raining completely about a half hour before my shift ended!
I had a totally dry ride home! ^_^ I love that. *Happy sigh* So anyhow, uhm, leave me a comment! ^_^ I wanna have some stuff to check so i can feel productive! ^_^

Another day gone, another tomorrow ripe for the picking
So another day is done, and with it another 12 hour shift at work. Good times are had by all... Me that is.
I turn 21 on the 24th.
I take a class on the 23rd, 24th, and 25th, so i'll be in a class on my b-day.
The class is my Comissioned officers class.
Which means i get a gun, for those of you who don't know what a comm. officer is.
And i'm allowed to use it, which means i get more money, and less harassment at my sites. ^_^ Good times yet again.
Fragmented thoughts... not good for posting so much. Need sleep. Maybe chocolate milk too. Yeah... chocolate milk....
